With the solar module AS Celaeno AS Solar offers the innovative solution for extracting the maximum amount of energy from the sunlight. This high-tech product features the Albarino P solar glass by Saint Gobain which, due to its patented surface structure, minimizes light reflections which ensures the optimal use of the irradiance and thus produces a maximum energy yield. The special pyramid structure increases the energy yield by at least 3%, in slanted positions even up to 20%. Because of that the module is especially suited for the use in locations with unfavourable incidences of light.
The core of every solar module are without a doubt the cells. The AS Celaeno is equipped exclusively with high-quality cells by the company Q-Cells. The biggest solar cell manufacturer worldwide from Germany stands with its name as a synonym for reliability and highest quality. Connection boxes, cables and plugs are manufactured by Tyco and guarantee a long-term and secure electrical operation.
In connection with the 4mm thick solar glass the extra stable aluminum frame contributes to a high load capacity of the module. This ensures optimal safety already during transport and installation as well as with high snow loads.
Due to the professional processing AS Solar gives a product warranty of 5 years for the module. The power output guarantee is even 20 years

The solar sector is currently experiencing changes of so far unknown proportions. Through an ongoing massive capacity increase the supply still surpasses the demand which further decreases the business density on the solar sector. AS Solar continues to trust in quality products both from renounced manufacturers as well as with in-house developments and thus sets a sign against the trend to switch to cheap low-tech manufacturers due to income return reasons.
In order to make this high quality more tangible for the end customer AS Solar is working on establishing its brand name. In early August the new advertisement campaign, designed by a Hanoverian agency, started in the AS Solar colors yellow and blue. This month the manufacturer-independent monitoring system AS Control is being advertised with the slogan “Always in sight”. Three further ads, focussing on different subjects, will in the most important solar trade magazines throughout the remainder of this year.
“We especially want our faithful customers to profit from this campaign who will be able to advertise much more efficiently with a strong partner on their side. That is why we are still increasing our marketing activities”, said CEO Gerd Pommerien.

AS Solar supports Hanoverian artist Joy Lehmann’s new project as a sponsor in order to raise awareness towards environmental protection and global warming. From May 5th – September 27th, 2009 artificial islands, symbolizing the five continents, are floating on the Maschteich in Hannover. By contrasting the seeming nature idyll on the islands with 12 global hotspots of climate hazards, symbolized through warning lights, the artist wants to draw attention to the human influence on our planet.
In order to let the viewer experience the full scope of the project even at night AS Solar provides the artist with three solar modules, a battery and electric circuits that illuminate the continents’ shapes in yellow light. The warning lights also draw attention to expected climate catastrophes of the 21st century like draughts and flooding. The warning lights will be covered by the continuing overgrowth in a matter of a few weeks in order to show that Nature will prevail in any case. The project as a whole is not to be seen solely as a warning towards the future but also symbolizes our planet’s healing powers.
The project also has a very real practical use for the Maschteich. Through its maintenance-free construction the islands form a biotope on its own by drawing nutrients from the pond which leads to a reduction of algae growth. The shady and rooted undersides of the continents provide fish with plenty of food and possibilities to hide.

After being originally intended as a two-year pilot project SnEK (School - lasting education - environmental protection) has turned into a worthwhile addition to the regular schedule of 10 all-day schools within the Hannover region. Convinced of the idea of lasting education, especially keeping current environmental and social problems in mind, AS Solar contributes financially to the realization of the concept. “The conscious dealing with topics relevant to the future as well as active participation in shaping the environment enables children to learn and internalize life styles for a future worth living for” said AS Solar’s CEO Gerd Pommerien.
The goals are to sensitize students to topics like energy and climate protection and to save development opportunities of current and future generations. In an interactive and experience oriented atmosphere the students are able to acquire environmental knowledge and develop competence regarding problem solving and designing. Through individual detecting and solving of problems they learn concrete and effective ways of action for the day-to-day handling of alternative energies. In scientific experiments the students analyze the operating modes and energy requirements of electrical devices, determine the electricity requirements of the school lighting or study their environment in field trips. All together the inderdisciplinary afternoon classes also strengthen the awareness for responsible and socially conscious behavior.
Plans have been made to expand the Germany-wide unique program SnEK to schools in the Hannover region next school year with AS Solar as sponsor.
